Evenin' Comrades,
Just thought I'd let you all know, the Socialist Party has weekly branch meetings at Trades hall, on the corner of Lygon Street and Victorian Parade in Melbourne and any and all interested comrades are welcome.
Meetings are held on Wednesday nights from 7 - about 8:30\9 and then of course we all trot (get it, trot? It's a pun coz we're a trotskyist party?) too the John Curtin Hotel across the road for a beer and chatting.
Like I said, all comrades are welcome to come, listen and to also express their views. We regularly have non-party members attend, including several self-described anarchists, some party members some not.
The format runs like this: Each week has a specific topic of discussion that one party member gives a 'lead off' on (Tommorow nights is the Rise of Stalinism and the counter-revolution in Russia following from last weeks 90th anniversary look at the October Revolution). Following the lead off, the floor is opened for discussion, and then the member who gave the lead off gives a closing statment, coming back on questions, concluding, etc.
Following this other reports and party business are run through quickly.
Once again I stress it would be wonderful too see some comrades come along and your all welcome! Too get too our office in trades hall, you go in the Victoria Parade entrance (opposite the 7\11), take the first stair case on the left, and once you get too the top, turn right and go too the corridor ahead of you, and, then, finally, turn left into the corridor and we are the second door on the right hand side of the corridor :-) If you get lost there are usually signs!
