There's been a small amount of discussion in Sydney (not alot), that, due to the inactivity of Alarm, that there exists a necessity to basically scrap whats been done, and to begin again, and to give alarm a new direction as a revolutionary youth anarchist collective.
Thoughts on this?

quitters are not winners. What if Everest got to like base camp 1 and thought to himself "Screw this im going home" Then it would be called Pointy Mountain instead of Mr. Everest. Just because you dont have immediate results doesn't mean you should just scrap it. If u did then you guys would suck. And you guys dont wanna suck. Think about all the other young ppls in aussie land they are like just going around getting high and buying shit. They suck. Do you wanna be one of them? You guys are cool. keep doing whatever it is you are doing. And dont give up at the first sighn of a hurdle.
Peace.

depends what you mean. Could you go into more detail? Would it be "scrapping" or just altering whats already there?

Basically, to just have a reorganizing meeting to decide a new direction on where alarm should go, what it should be, etc. So that it becomes of use instead of just an organization that does nothing.
Practically, that would look like holding a meeting where people who want to still be involved in the collective attend, and those who dont don't, and if the latter are on the list, then they are removed. A meeting would be held to decide: What should Alarm be? An anarchist group organized in spreading anarchist ideas among young people, and bring young anarchists together to organize a larger scale; an affinity group, etc. What should alarm do? A monthly, bi monthly, etc. paper; organize events; direct action against the institutions of capital, the war, etc.
It's not so much about "Quitting" as much as it is about giving it direction and reviving something that has the potential to be a useful, solid anarchist organization.

Well I suppose any move to make an organisation more effective (such as by giving it direction) is positive.
