Now I know everyone with half a brain hates the Spartacist League, but I'd really like to draw attention to a page on their site: www.partisandefense.org/campaigns/mumia.htmlThis shit's been going on for yonks, but it seems to be heating up lately. Some of us up here are planning a benefit gig for Mumia Abu-Jamal, raise a bit of cash for his defence. Is anyone down south, apart from the Sparts, thinking about/doing anything in solidarity with him? I know there's class war prisoners here in Oz and over in NZ as well, but the poor bloke's going to be executed. It's be nice for anarchists to chip in a bit and see what we can do as well.

As far as I know, he's actually not going to be executed, he managed to have that bit overturned, but because of legal complications and his appeal only getting the death sentence bit of it overturned he's actually still in prison on death row. However, this info comes from my memory, which was fed by wikipedia I think, so I could be wrong.
Anyway, definitely a worthy cause.
P.S. Sparts are sectarian fuckers who can't recruit their own members and instead try and prey on young members of other groups, I've experienced this, at which stage a comrade of mine turned around and just said "Fuck off you idiot". The bastard was tryna defend China as some socialist Paradise. What a moron. No wonder Marxists get a bad wrap with these idiots running around.

Personally I think there are much worthier causes, however, if anyone were organise a benefit gig in Sydney I'm sure my band would be able to play.

Yeah, who cares about people who've been on death row for decades :s *sarcasm* Just because I believe there's better charity's to donate towards doesn't mean that I don't support Mumia. I just find it a little strange that there has been so much money raised for him, when you only need to browse Amnesty.org to see just how many worthy political prisoners there are.
