Hi im Daniel
I live near melb
And have been calling myself an anarchist for a few years now though i have believed in the same things since before then
I think my gateway into revolutionary thinking was (and yes i know its cliche) what i fondly refer to as my "hella punx" days
I was attracted to this scene because i was angry at the things that i thought where wrong with the world and i found others who felt the same way.
after about a year and a bit of listening to rancid and the distillers and doing the teenage rebellion thing my friend gave me fuck world trade by leftover crack and this album connected with me in a big way
it blatantly demanded revolution now !
the things the band sung about where things that i often thought but had little idea others felt the same way.
it was through reading about the band that i came into contact with anarchism and took and interest
in the beginning i was very critical of anarchism and had a hard time trying to undo the propaganda that is put apon us from a young age.
but it became clear to me that this was not radical thinking it was just common sense.
at some point during this intake of new ideas i got an myspace message from luke commenting on how i liked leftovercrack me and him messaged each other over the next few months and disscussed alot of things in an honest and friendly way that i had never experienced but soon came to expect of all anarchist i meet.
Luke also introduced me to folk punk and for someone i had yet to meet had a profound effect on my life and i thank him for it
my trip up to Sydney was a life changing experience, got to hang out with Luke and met nick and steph and some other amazing people, and toured around Sydney with Chris and ben from asking for it and also met Ethan
these people who where connected or part of the anarchist comunity blew my mind with there kindness, openness and amazing sense of freedom
these are the kinds of people that confirm for sure in my mind that anarchism could work and that people really are good
and i thank them for that
and thats that
that was my big badly written rant
i hope those who dont know me know a little about me and those who do a little more
love dan !
