SourceThe Education Department has given Sydney Schools the all-clear to fingerprint their students. The controversial move is voluntary, but only three parents have declined to allow their children to take part in a trial of the system at Rooty Hill High in Sydney's west. School principal Christine Cawsey has told the Nine Network the system will be used to track children when they arrive at school, and as they visit the canteen, library and selected classrooms. “When they put their finger on the scanner, they will get a good morning greeting on the screen and then they go to class.”

hmm definetly worrying....
could you imagine this being implimented in every day life? every room you enter you need to finger scan it?
there must be a way to disrupt this though....
i honestly hope other schools/institutions decide to not impliment such devices.

SR - nicely put, I like it. Perhaps something subtle like posters or stickers on the machines: "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU." Something to provoke thought. It's frightening to see this is ACTUALLY being considered by staff and parents: who are supposed to be doing "what is best for the children".

Ok getting over the rant I posted, something particularly that sticks out to me as disgusting and disturbing is that this is being introduced to defenseless primary school kids, kids who are probably to young to question this stuff or do anything about it. It's like... test it on them coz they're vulnerable, or get them used to surveilance society.
Simply disgusting. Also slightly disturbing.

Is it being tested on primary school kids? The article I saw (and posted) said High School.

Oh my bad. I think some of what I said still rings true, if to a lesser extent
